Specializing in Stylized Moody Lighting for the true crime genre
Folks are watching more true crime content than ever before… In the past few years, the True Crime genre has grown exponentially. Popularized in 1967 by the release of Richard Brooks’ film adaptation of Truman Capote’s, In Cold Blood, the genre has seen a significant increase in viewer interest and demand. Over the course of the past few years, I have shot several True Crime television episodes that have aired on Investigation Discovery, Oxygen, TvOne, and A&E. My work has included interviews with law enforcement, district attorneys, families of murder victims and families of convicted felons, as well as ‘scene of the crime’ location b-roll and re-creations of certain story elements. D.J. Dierker is a Philadelphia based DP specializing in True Crime content within Washington D.C., Baltimore, New Jersey, New York, and beyond, incorporating stylized lighting techniques inspired by horror movies, thrillers, and film noir.
